Governance
The Constitution provides for the appointment of a Council, which performs a governance role for the APSF, and oversees the activities and performance of the APSF. The APSF members and various medical and nursing colleges elect the Council, which includes a representative from the Consumer Forum.
The current members of the Council are:
- Prof. Bill Runciman: APSF President & Acting Chairman, Professor of Anaesthetics at Adelaide University;
- A/Prof. James Harrison: National Centre for Injury Prevention (ordinary member);
- Prof. Guy Maddern: Royal College of Surgeons;
- Dr. Sue Johanson: Australian College of Emergency Medicine;
- Mrs Margaret Charlton: Consumer RepresentativeConsumer Health Forum;
- Dr. Neil Maycock: Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists;
- Dr Maria Crotty: Australian College of Rehabilitation Medicine;
- Dr. Marie Heartfield: Royal College of Nursing; and
- Mr Ray Clark: Financial Planner (ordinary member).
The APSF has established a Clinical Advisory Committee, comprising of representatives from all disciplines, whose role will be to provide advice on the data model and research direction of the APSF. The APSF is currently seeking further representation from specialist colleges for this Committee. Current Clinical Advisory Committee members are:
- Dr Wayne Ramsey, Royal Australasian College of Medical Adminstrators;
- Dr Howard Galloway, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists;
- Prof. Paddy Phillips, Royal Australasian College of Physicians;
- Dr Jacinta Powell, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
